A local business is stepping in to save Christmas who hundreds of families who had their Black Friday orders cancelled by Curry’s because of a “technical glitch”

Smiths TV has stepped up to honour Black Friday prices for Currys customers who may have missed out due to an issue with Currys website.

Currys cancelled thousands of orders that were placed with slashed prices, only to tell customers they would not honour the deal once they realised their order had been cancelled.

However Smiths TV will honour the prices if a customer comes into the store with proof of purchase.

Smiths TV is a family run business now in its 5th generation which has been based in Merseyside for over 100 years with four branches in Southport, Burscough, Formby and Ainsdale with a national website presence. They sell a wide range of electrical items including TV, Audio and Domestic Appliances.

Director Mark Wright said: “This has been a tough year for everyone. We hope that this gesture is able to offer some help to customers who are already facing lots of uncertainty in the lead up to Christmas.

“It has been a tumultuous time for retail but our customers have supported us through this period and we feel it is our duty to give something back whether they are an existing customer of ours or not. We always aim to provide the best service with the best prices”
