Council Tax Scam

The 2019 Council Tax is under review in the near future so please be aware of this scam.

A Sefton resident received a phone call supposedly from a Government Official, who stated her property had been put in the wrong Council Tax Band. Since 1991 she had overpaid and was due for a refund of between £2,700 and £3,410 also her Council Tax bill would in future be £41 less per month.

To reclaim the money owing to her, she could either get her own surveyor at a cost of £300 – £500, or she could pay an administration fee to the caller for only £150 and he would complete the necessary paper work.
