Local Golf Pro, Towndrow, secures a top finish in Bahrain Trophy

19th November 2018

Sean Towndrow from Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club finished eighth in the King Hamad Trophy, Bahrain, last week. The field saw 140 competitors from across the world, battle it out in the prestigious event.

Scoring 71, 70 and 69 Sean finished six under at the King’s Course. This was no mean feat in 35 degree heat and high winds which made playing conditions very difficult. This was a positive end to Towndrow’s season; it being his first full year back having survived cancer. He was diagnosed with a non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at 24 years of age.

Speaking after the tournament, Sean said, “It’s great to be back out playing competitive golf and finishing stongly. The people in Bahrain were so welcoming and I look forward to returning next year. I want to thank my brother Graeme for making the trip and caddying so well as well as my sponsors, Golfing for Life, Infinity Engineering Systems and Centrip.”
