Sefton’s hard working councillors could vote to give themselves an even bigger pay rise.

Elected members of the local authority do not get a salary, but receive an allowance for their work in the local community.

In Sefton, this allowance currently stands at £9,150.71 per year.

In the coming weeks, elected members’ allowances could rise by as much as 2.5% – bringing the basic councillors’ allowance to more than £9379 per year.

Many believe there is no way councillors won’t vote to give themselves more money.
