A Southport-based Burnley fan who suffers from Parkinson’s has captured the heart of the nation after launching a heartfelt appeal.
Pensioner Christopher Coxhead from Argyle Road has made international headlines after taking out an advert to find a like-minded and kindhearted person to take him to Burnley FC home games.
The pensioner who suffers from early-stage Parkinson’s can’t make it to see his beloved Clarets by himself so asked if anyone in Southport would be able to take him there and back.
Since he launched the appeal Christopher has been inundated with attention and offers of support, including from the Burnley FC chairman himself!
Christopher’s appeal went viral on social media, receiving thousands of retweets on Twitter.
Chairman Alan Pace has now extended a VIP invitation to Christopher to be a special guest of the club at home games.
It comes after Burnley Businessman Dave Fishwick already offered to cover all costs for Chris’s journeys.
Dave said he would gladly pay for a fan to transport the pensioner to and from home games.
And now, the Clarets chairman has offered to make that first visit even more special after inviting them to be his VIP guest.
An excited Chris will watch the game from the directors’ box
