“The Robert Mather band are a 5 piece funk/rock/groove function band with a large repertoire of classic and new material. The band was put together in July 2012, acting as the resident band in Eric’s (Mathew St Live) in Liverpool.
Throughout that first summer, the band played a large number of gigs and private functions in various parts of the North West and began residency slots in a number of bars around Liverpool City Centre.
During the 2012 Mathew St Festival, The Robert Mather Band played all over the city, and headlined Mathew Street’s Rubber Soul three nights on the run.
The range of influences comes from the range of musicians. With Robert Mather’s Jamiroqui-like vocals, Jack Gardiner’s fusion inspired playing, Ollie Graham’s metal influence and Karl Sweeney’s acoustic/singer-songwriter vibe, the band has a unique sound mixed with the traditional Liverpool feel and humour.
The band play all the biggest hits from Earth Wind and Fire’s classic ‘September’ right through to Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’.
The band focus on giving you the songs you want to hear with a groovy twist, along with a lot of fun and improvisation!
Expect Jamiroqui-esque vocals, a rock/fusion guitar, funky bass licks and all around craziness from the kit”
