Tickets are already selling fast for a special evening with a Liverpool FC legend in Southport.
Ian Callaghan, one of the all-time Liverpool FC greats, will be appearing in a unique show at The New Hideout bar on Hoghton Place on Wednesday, June 1.
Callaghan, who set a club record 857 Liverpool appearances between 1960 and 1978, will take part in a special live YouTube podcast recording for Red All Over The Land fanzine.
He will be joined by Southport-based author and broadcaster John Keith, who wrote Ian’s biography The Ian Callaghan Story, one of 33 books he has written during a career covering football for newspapers and radio spanning almost 60 years and is currently Merseyside correspondent for Ireland’s national radio service RTE.
Callaghan and Keith will be interviewed by award-winning presenter Graham Mack and the pair will then take audience questions on an evening that will include snacks, a prize raffle and sale of memorabilia.
“I’m looking forward to it immensely because the show will take place just four days after the club’s Champions League Final so we’ll have plenty to talk about,” said Cally, the only Liverpool player to appear in the old Second Division and go on to play in the club’s first European Cup triumph in 1977.
He was a member of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning squad and along with Sir Bobby Charlton and Nobby Stiles is one of only three players to collect the treble medal collection of World Cup, European Cup and League Championship, which he won five times under legendary managers Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. He was made an MBE in 1975.
Tickets for the evening, at £24, are available in person or by post at The New Hideout, 1 Hoghton Place, Southport PR9 OTE (cheques payable to “The New Hideout”). Also by calling: 01704 536907 or on line at: james.hill62@outlook.com
