Letter the editor | Where has the George Drive money gone?

Is anyone else concerned about what happened to the money that was raised on bank holiday Monday round at George Drive?

I have donated more than a generous amount to that fund and now the trees are being cut down anyway.

I did ask on the save our woods Facebook page but the reply was to be deleted as a member of the group.

They wouldn’t even tell me how much was to be donated. I understand they had legal fees to pay but I believe from what I have been told by someone who knows that the money from the go fund me page paid for the solicitor.

Money raised from the bank holiday fund raiser and money raised from a car boot sale at tesco has not been accounted for and was never paid into the account as far as I’m aware.

I did hear money was being donated in honour of 3 residents who have recently passed away but no charities have been put forward and while I don’t wish to sound uncaring, should the cash not go to animals rescue centres. After all that’s what it was raised in the name of. Animal welfare.

I’m happy for any cash I donated to go to charity but it seems to me the whole situation is more than a bit suspicious and cards are being held close to the chests of the residents of George Drive.

Come on people, a bit of honesty is required where money is concerned.
