A full day of discovery and adventure awaits families doing 8 wildlife ranger activities including:
Top Trumps – Collect your own Top Trumps card and play against us and your family as you explore for 12 GIANT Top Trumps cards in the waterfowl gardens. Can you win at least 5 cards from us to collect your ranger badge?
Tribal Tracks – join our tribe at our wetland tepees. Make natural headdresses and follow footprints and other clues to track a mystery animal
Canoe safari – paddle through beautiful waterways and come face to face with kingfishers, water voles, dragonflies and other wetland wonders
Pond exploring – what fascinating creatures can you catch in your net, identify and log?
…and lots, lots more..
Children will be encouraged to record their findings and experiences in their log books, like a real life ranger, as a permanent reminder of their wild day out. Collect at least 6 stickers and come along to our daily award ceremony at 3.30pm to collect your Super Wildlife Ranger sticker – get all 8 and be entered into a draw to win a day as a Martin Mere Ranger.
Steve Nasir, one of WWT’s real life wildlife rangers said:
“I love being a wildlife ranger for WWT and helping to care for and protect our amazing wetland animals. We thought families would welcome the chance to experience what it’s like to be a ranger through a series of fun-packed, mini adventures, including activities that I do as part of my day to day job. Hopefully, we’ll also inspire some of our younger visitors to become the wildlife rangers of the future, helping to create a world where healthy wetland nature thrives and enriches lives.”
