Lazy visitors to Southport urged to take rubbish home

5th August 2018

The photos below were taken the morning after a busy day on Southport seafront last week. The rubbish bagged up was bagged up by members of the public who came across it and HAD to do something about it, before Council cleansing officers arrived to start their shift, and this was only about 1/3rd of the rubbish picked up.

There is NO justification for this. If bins on top of the sea wall are full, there are others by the roadside which will not be. Alternatively, bring bags with you and take rubbish with you to an empty bin.

This is our town. Please help us keep it free from litter like this. Local Police Officers, PCSO’s and Civil Enforcement Officers will not hesitate to issue fines to anyone seen responsible for littering such as this.
