Latest updates: Transit van removed by forensics at Eastbourne Road murder scene

23rd April 2021

A Ford Transit van has been removed from a crime scene on Eastbourne Road where a 32-year-old man was murdered yesterday afternoon.

Police confirmed that two men, a 23-year-old and a 32-year-old were arrested on suspicion of murder. Officers have now cleared the area and the road is fully open to traffic.

Forensic teams worked into the night at the scene, recovering a white Ford Transit on a flatbed truck for further investigations.

Eyewitnesses report that the victim received roadside CPR from paramedics and air ambulance doctors, following dramatic scenes at Compton Road Park where two helicopters landed close to a small crowd of onlookers.

North West Ambulance service confirmed that they did not take anyone to hospital.

Neither the victim, nor the two men arrested, have been named.

OTS received several reports that the victim was stabbed, and that a vehicle may have been used in the attack.

This morning, Eastbourne Road is clear of investigators and the road is fully open to traffic.

Further updates are expected throughout the day. OTS has also approached the North West Air Ambulance for comment.
