Late night tree clearing by Meols Cop rail line could cause disruption for residents

6th April 2022

Dozens of residents around Kew are being warned their sleep will be shattered in the next few weeks by railway works.

Network Rail have issued letters to hundreds of people who live around the train line near Meols Cop warning that there will be a week of tree and hedge cutting.

The overnight works between Monday 18th to Friday 22nd April will use huge forestry equipment including “chainsaws, woodchippers and other large forestry type plant and machinery.”

The work will take place between Meols Cop Station and Foul Lane Bridge.

A network rail spokesperson said: “This work will help keep train services safe and reliable for passengers and train drivers, while also reducing any risk to residents.

“To complete the work, we will be using chainsaws, woodchippers and other large forestry type plant and machinery.

“Due to this some noise is to be expected. However, our teams will do all they can to keep this to a minimum, where possible.”
