For a short time, there will now be only TWO High-paid Labour Mayors of Liverpool instead of the ‘normal’ three.
Just two months into the job, Liverpool’s Lord Mayor Peter Brennan (above) has agreed to stand down from his civic role after he shared an openly-racist video on ‘Whatsapp’ with other Labour councillors.
The video is understood to have made comparisons between a black person and a monkey.
Councillor Brennan’s actions were immediately attacked publicly by one of the other Liverpool Labour Mayors, Joe Anderson (above). Mayor Anderson said that he was “shocked and appalled” to see this racist video circulated by his fellow Labour Mayor.
Councillor Brennan’s actions have been referred to the central Labour Party.
The appalling video was circulated 14 years to the day since the promising and talented Merseyside teenager Anthony Walker was brutally murdered in a horrific racist attack.
