Ainsdale’s Labour candidate, Kev Donnellon, who lives in Blundellsands, Liverpool, previously urged his party to “throw out” members who are antisemitic.
He stated on Facebook: “I don’t deny there are some anti-semites in the party that need to be thrown out.”

An inquiry into claims of antisemitic hate crimes within Labour was announced in November. Since then, three people have been arrested by the police.

The Ainsdale Labour candidate’s admission makes a refreshing change and marks a contrast to others who have sought to dismiss or lampoon any such race-related troubles within Labour’s ranks. It’s always good to see honestly within politics.
The situation in Southport’s Kew Ward was apparently quite different when a Labour councillor amazingly ridiculed an accurate OTS News article, concerning Labour and antisemitism, as being “poor but outrageous”.
In fact, regardless of Councillor blackburne’s offhand and self-justifying comments, no “hope nor hate” was spread. However, what was spread was truthful information and genuine public concern for the growing amount of prejudice, which the Labour leadership has been omitting to properly address for far too long! This is the same bias, which the Ainsdale candidate previously admitted to in this party. Perhaps the Kew councillor needs to follow Mr Donnellon’s forthright example?

This article naturally led to a great deal of online dummy – spitting by fellow Labour activists, who were outraged that someone had taken the trouble to record their activities.
National claims of ongoing Labour prejudice towards Jewish people will not go away, no matter how loudly some unusually vocal politicians shout. Moreover, childish name-calling online and desperate cries of ‘Fake news’ will not alter the suspicions many people now have against Labour’s leadership and the confusing and embarrassingly dismissive way that some of its councillors have dealt with antisemitic allegations.
Nevertheless, Mr Donnellon’s honest Facebook comments were made in 2018 (3 August). They are today quite revealing, concerning the problems of ‘self-admitted’ antisemitism within his party.
It is hoped that Mr Donnellon will take the opportunity to specify who the antisemitic Labour members that he alluded to actually are, in good faith, in assistance to the latest official probe into Labour. Is he speaking about specific persons or is his admission based upon a larger generalisation?
The people in the ward where he is standing must have a right to know about all this!
Nevertheless, rather than being dismissive or childish, other Labour activists need to follow Mr Donnellon’s example of sincerity.
