Sefton Labour Party have wheeled out their latest Ainsdale candidate in their electoral assault on Southport.
She is Mhairi Doyle (above) of George Drive, Ainsdale. Ms Doyle trailed in third place well behind the Conservative in Ainsdale ward in May 2016 when Southport voters elected seven out of seven Lib Dem councillors.
The Labour Party has also unveiled their election strategy for May which is to personalise their attack Southport’s popular four-times-elected former MP John Pugh.
They trial l ed this tactic in the recent Dukes Ward by-election where Dr Pugh scored a record victory while Labour’s Ainsdale-based candidate trailed badly behind the second-placed Tory. In particular, Labour are attacking Dr Pugh’s concerns about Sefton’s recent £32 million Bootle Strand purchase.
No Labour candidate has ever won a single parliamentary election in Southport since Parliament was invented or an local election since before Sefton Council was invented.
