Why are Labour lefties so racist and sexist? – questions for Jeremy
Lifelong socialist Trevor Phillips has given Southport voters a question to ask Jeremy Corbyn when he comes here on Friday. “Why are Labour lefties so racist and sexist?” Mr Phillips, former head of the Equality Commission, says it is time to expose the “sanctimonious self-righteous posturing of the trendy Left.”
Writing in a national newspaper today, Trevor says: “My comrades on the Left flaunt their ‘moral superiority’, but many of them are the most racist and sexist of all.” His comments come only days after Jess Phillips (no relation) the moderate Birmingham Labour MP, went on record saying that Left-wing men “don’t think of women in the same way.”
Jess Phillips says that Left-wing men are “the worst, the actual worst” when it comes to sexism” adding that “‘Left-leaning’ men are worse than those described as ‘out-and-out sexists of the Right.'”
Ms Phillips is known for her straight speaking. She once told Jeremy Corbyn she would knife him ‘in the front, not the back’ if he damaged Labour’s electoral appeal – although she has since apologised. She is also widely-reported to have told archCorbynista MP Diane Abbott to “**** off” in a shadow cabinet row.” “People said to me they had always wanted to say that to her, and I don’t know why they don’t as the opportunity presents itself every other minute,” she said.
Women are entirely missing from Labour’s industrial strategy, she says, because it was all about “men with shovels”.
Trevor Phillips, one of only two black men to ever be elected President of the Britain’s students, also attacks double-standards on racism which, he says, “are taking a potentially more dangerous turn. Scores of young girls were betrayed by Labour councillors who turned a blind eye to the grooming scandals in Rochdale, Rotherham and now Newcastle, so as not to offend their Muslim block vote. He adds: “There is little doubt the Far Left is bent on turning Labour into a comfortable home for anti-Semites.”
“So thank heavens for Jess Phillips and the handful of politicians like her. They occasionally shock us or make us smile with their blunt speech; but increasingly they are the last bulwark against the creeping double-think that betrays the Left’s fundamental values. The longer we tolerate the hypocrisies that mar our movement, the bleaker its future.”
So who is going to put these points to Jezza when he comes to Southport?
