Jeremy Corbyn has launched the ‘most radical manifesto’ the country has seen in decades, vowing to scrap the widely-hated Universal Credit scheme. However, Southport’s, MP Damien Moore, has been in favour of the deeply – flawed welfare scheme since it was instigated.
Many critics have complained the system has led to a rise in homelessness, debt and the use of food banks, due to the five-week wait claimants face before receiving funds.
The Party has vowed to immediately introduce a series of “emergency reforms” initially before ending the controversial benefits system at the end of their parliamentary term if they are voted into power on the December 12 election.
Tories – still failing to admit to the foodbank crisis
Foodbank usage is growing at a dramatic rate – up 23 per cent in a year, according to the latest figures from the UK’s main food parcel provider, the Trussell Trust. Almost 5,000 food parcels are handed out each day, of which more than a third go to children.
Could this heated issue alone be a deciding factor for UK voters in the December election?
