Knob Hall Lane has been partially resurfaced after being nominated in a competition held by The Express newspaper.
After decades of arguments between residents of the unadopted Marshside based road and the council over who is responsible for its maintenance, the road was finally resurfaced yesterday.
Despite years of public back and forth between furious homeowners on Knob Hall Lane, who say the council should fix the road’s potholes, and the council chiefs who say it’s not their problem, it was the Daily Express who finally came to the rescue.
OTS News understands an Express reader entered a competition hosted by the Daily Express and JCB to have a special new ‘pothole destroying’ machine visit their street for free to demonstrate its prowess.
Dozens of residents and local councillors turned out in force on Wednesday 18th May to see the machine in action, which completely resurfaced Knob Hall Lane.
While the road has been repaired, there still isn’t any sign of the future of Knob Hall Lane becoming a council maintained road.
A spokesman for Sefton Council told OTS News: “We are aware of the issue of maintenance responsibility for Knob Hall Lane has been the source of dispute for many years.
“Recently Sefton Council undertook extensive investigations into the matter, which involved a thorough search of the Council’s documentary records and seeking further independent legal advice.
“The findings from this extensive investigation reaffirmed that, as Knob Hall Lane is an unadopted road, Sefton Council is not responsible for its upkeep.”
