Officers from the Southport Local Policing Team and paramadics from North West ambulance began three days of presentations on the risks of #knifecrime at Birkdale High School today.
Every day this week, Officers from the Southport Local Policing Team in conjunction with the North West Ambulance service, will continue delivering presentations on knife crime in local high schools.
The presentations cover the following topics:
Why do people carry knives?
The consequences
What constitutes a offensive weapon?
Legal powers of school staff and the police with regard to possession of weapons
The damage/danger of carrying an offensive weapon.
First Aid: What to do in the event of a knife injury
The presentations are interactive to get important input from the young people themselves, and they have been well received by school staff.
