Young visitors to Ormskirk hospital’s emergency department will now have their visit brightened by a vibrant new mural which brings the jungle to life.
The playroom was looking a little tired, so staff nurse Jessica Healy arranged a charity walk from Formby to Southport along the beach to raise funds to help with its renovation.
Jessica explains: “A lovely couple Nigel and Yvonne kindly donated their time to help us revamp the playroom. We worked together to create the idea of the jungle theme and wanted to try and make it interactive for the children. Crown Paints in Southport donated the paint and the League of Friends also gave us some extra money to go towards some toys. We have had some brilliant feedback so far, the children love the animals and it really helps to distract and entertain our poorly visitors. Huge thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen.”
Juliette Cosgrove, Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Therapies, added: “This is a fantastic team effort and thank you to all of those involved. Well done, especially to Jessica for having the energy, enthusiasm and initiative to make this happen. The mural is stunning, the perfect addition to this much-used and much-loved play room.”
