John Pugh Fails to Turn Up for Sefton Vote Count
After a strong performance by the Conservative Party in the local elections, it didn’t escape the notice of attendees at the count that the current leader of Sefton Liberal Democrats and former MP for Southport – John Pugh failed to turn up for the vote count and accept defeat in the Sefton Council local elections.
As an MP, John Pugh was ineffective and failed to help Southport reach its great potential. Pugh presided over a period when Southport suffered from a dearth of economic development and regeneration necessary for the long-term sustainability of the region. Once again John Pugh is demonstrating that he is unfit to hold public office.
Not only was his absence from the vote count disrespectful to his party and to local democracy, but it also demonstrates his lack of ability and his ineffectiveness as a leader.
With an ambitious local plan, Sefton Council needs councillors who can deliver and John Pugh simply does not fit the bill.
John Pugh’s failure to turn up for the vote count reflects a deeper issue. His inability to represent the people of Sefton and represent them in any capacity.
On what was a fantastic night for the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats lost 5 out of 7 seats – their worst set of local election results in two decades.
