Jewellery break in closes section of Lord Street

A large police presence remains on Lord Street following a break in at Rebecca’s the Jewellers.

Lord Street remains closed to traffic between Eastbank Street and London Street.

Access to workplaces has also been prevented as part of the cordon, officers confirmed.

OTS understands that an attempted burglary was made at the store at approximately 11pm last night.

A motorcycle was photographed outside the store shortly after the incident. OTS has been unable to verify reports on social media that a number of suspects were caught and arrested by police.

OTS News has contacted Merseyside Police for comment.

One witness reported that a number of stolen goods were dropped during the attempt.

A spokesperson for Rebecca’s Jeweller’s said: “We are saddened to share that yesterday evening we were targeted by thieves.

“As of yet we do not know the full extent of the damaged they have caused, the police are currently carrying out their investigations.”
