A jazz musical afternoon in Southport has raised £1000 for a cancer charity.
Members of the West Lancs and Merseyside myeloma support group recently held a special fundraising musical on Saturday 30th September to raise funds for the cancer charity Myeloma UK.
The event held at All Saints Church Hall Southport ,attracted over 70 supporters who were entertained by the Mark Lewis Quintent with refreshments in the interval.
A spokesperson for the group said:
`The group meets once a month in Southport and is a great opportunity to meet patients, family members and carers in an informal and friendly environment and to learn more about living with myeloma which is a cancer of the bone marrow.
The funds will help Myeloma UK to raise awareness among local GPs and nurses of myeloma which has one of the highest rates of delay in diagnosis.
Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. It helps myeloma patients live longer and with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development and access to new treatments, while helping patients and their families cope with everything a diagnosis brings.’
