Review Tapper’s Cafe – Union Street Southport.
My friend and I visited this cafe on a sunny Wednesday lunchtime. We were greeted with a smile and the place was bustling with a mix of business folk and shoppers alike. With the summer on the horizon I went with thoughts of opting for a healthy salad but my eyes were immediately drawn to the bagel selection.
Whilst waiting for my friend to arrive I ordered a Latte, which was delicious, and hot (I cannot abide warm coffee!)
I opted for a bacon brie and chilli jam bagel £6.50 and my friend chose a warm goats cheese, sun blush tomato, mixed leaves and balsamic glaze bagel £6.50. We couldn’t resit sharing a portion of chips at £3.00 (so much for the diet, but they tasted that good that we didn’t care!) and the chilli jam was so tasty that when i enquired the waitress informed me I could buy jar, which I did. Bagels come served with a side of tasty homemade coleslaw.
Service was very friendly and efficient. It seems this cafe have standards in place and they adhere to them throughout. It is spotless. It is also waitress service which makes a refreshing change from the coffee shops and cafes in other areas of the town centre.
We could not quite manage a cake so we opted to take one home instead, I chose a chocolate brownie and my friend a huge slice of coffee and walnut, I believe they are all homemade too.
In my opinion this is a fabulous little spot, just off the beaten track but on a interesting street. I will be returning, maybe for the salad next time!
This has to be the best Cafe I have visited in the town so far.
Final score: 9.5/10
Bon appetite!
