Southport-born Jack Rodwell has helped his new Australian club get off to a great start under new management.
Rodwell, formerly of Everton and Man City, kick-started his career after wowing teachers and coaches at Birkdale High School.
Now plying his trade in Sydney as captain of Western Sydney Wanderers, the former Birkdale boy became the only name on the scoresheet as his side, under a new manager, saw out a 1-0 win on Wednesday.
A first-half strike from Jack at the CommBank Stadium was all that separated the teams on the scoreboard on Wednesday night.
Jack then came close to doubling his tally on the stroke of half-time with a powerful shot from an acute angle.
