It’s roses all the way for Hillside’s Oliver Clarke
Oliver Clarke celebrated his call-up for England Boys in a match in Germany next month when he won the Penwortham Rose Bowl.
The Hillside youngster, recently crowned Lancashire Boys’ champion, set a hot pace with a 66 in the first round, having made a perfect start with an eagle at the opening hole then adding a 69 for a three-under-par total.
And his victory hoisted him into a share of seventh place in the Galvin Green Northern Order of Merit with county team-mate and England international Paul Kinnear, from Formby.
There was no change at the top of the table with Huyton & Prescot’s John Carroll lying on 235 points, 35 in front of second place Tom Dolan, from Heswall.
