The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer experiment at Manchester United is over and after a short period where Michael Carrick oversaw operations at the club, the new man in charge is Ralf Rangnick until the end of the season.
He comes in with the team down in 6th position, though they are only three point off the top four. Given the hopes for Manchester United at the start of the season, this is a huge priority for Rangnick while he is in charge, but is it on?
The Premier League is one of the biggest betting leagues in the world, and many people open new betting accounts to bet on the Premier League. Bookmakers currently have Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea as the three in contention for the title, but Manchester United are in behind them, meaning bookmakers think they are the fourth most likely to win the league, so essentially in the top four.
Who Are the Main Challengers?
This is certainly not an easy task for Manchester United, and what makes it a little tougher for them is that there are many teams around them who are also aiming for the same. Given that the top three seem to be a little ahead of the rest of the teams in contention, although we are talking about the top four, essentially there is just one place open and up for grabs.
Tottenham, who moved to bring in Antonio Conte and have seen a change in their fortunes since that move, are a big challenger, as are Arsenal, who continue to improve with their young squad. West Ham are the other team involved, they made it into Europe last season by finishing in the top six, and are continuing their progress this season, currently in the top four and also performing very well in the Europa League.
Just like the top three seem to be a little ahead of the chasing pack, these four teams who are fighting it out for the European spots also seem to be a little ahead of the remainder. The positions from fourth to seventh are more than likely between these teams, and United will be looking to ensure they can be the one on top.
Will United Reach the Top Four?
The big question is, can they do it? Given the signings they have made over the summer, including Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and of course the big move to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club, it is certainly expected that they get into the top four.
At the start of the season, some expected them to be title challengers, though of course, that hasn’t quite gone to plan.
The race for the top four looks set to be exciting, based on what we have seen so far from the teams involved. Manchester United are part of that, and the team with the most pressure on them to get in the top four, all eyes will certainly be on them.
