Investigation underway following reports of firearms discharge in Seaforth

Merseysdie Police are investigating following reports of a firearms discharge in Seaforth.

Officers were called to Sandy Road at 4.20pm today, Monday 28th May, to reports that shots had been fired by the occupants of a five door grey car towards a male pedestrian.

At this stage nobody has attended hospital with injuries consistent with a firearms discharge and no damage has been found.

An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the local area.

Officers are keen to trace the four occupants of the car, who all had their faces covered. It is believed the car drove off in the direction of Brookside Avenue.

Detective Inspector Steve Christian said: “The investigation is in the very early stages and I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area of Sandy Road who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the car either before or after the incident.

“The use of firearms on our streets will not be tolerated and Merseyside Police is committed to finding the person or people responsible.”
