Internet returning after thousands of Southport homes left without connection for 36 hours
Internet connections are slowly returning to thousands of homes after a 36-hour outage.
Customers, mostly on the Sky network, were left without internet in the Crossens, High Park and Dukes wards in Southport since 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Sky initially told dozens of customers there were no local issues and instead deployed BT Openreach engineers to fix what they said were ‘broken routers.’
However after being swarmed with complaints, Sky and Openreach eventually admitted a failed junction cabinet is the cause of the issue.
Thousands of homes have been hit by the outage, which has either taken internet offline completely or reduced speeds to a crawl.
OTS has received reports of some customers being offered £15 refunds after calling to complain.
