British Musical Fireworks Championships
28th – 30th September 2018

The Musical Fireworks event takes place in Southport This Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September. This event is one of the biggest events that takes place in Southport, with people travelling into the town from Lancashire and elsewhere in Merseyside. The event is expected to attract up to 10,000 people on each night.

Officers have now been briefed with the plans for policing both the event itself and the seafront and wider area outside the event. You should expect to see a high visibility presence of police officers and PCSO’s on duty for the event. Officers in plain clothes will also be on duty and it is possible that you may see armed officers on duty. Please do not be alarmed by this. This is now standard procedure at large scale events. Please feel free to come over and engage with any officers on duty. This is a family event. Police Officers, PCSO’s Paramedics, Firefighters and other emergency service staff will be there for your safety and security and for those times when things may go wrong.

All local high schools have been briefed with information to help young people attending the event stay safe and secure.

VICTORIA PARK IS NOW CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC (Thursday 27th) Security staff will be on site overnight each night, with the site and area surrounding also getting passing attention from police patrols.
