In September the Natterjack team held yet another incredibly successful 10k event along with a very popular 2k Fun Run. The event attracted over 1200 runners and feedback from runners complimented everyone from the organisers to the volunteer marshals cheering words of encouragement to the runners throughout the race. Although it was a windy day, the rain held off and the atmosphere was electric. Almost 60 people ran to raise funds for Galloway’s and still just over a month later, sponsorship money still coming in!
Galloway’s provides advice, support, specialist equipment, activities and trips to more than 7000 blind and visually impaired people living across Sefton and Lancashire.
Galloway’s Southport centre offers vital practical and emotional support to those facing the everyday challenges of living with sight loss. In addition to this they also offer a wide range of arts and crafts classes, exercise classes, outdoor pursuits such as climbing, croquet, shooting, driving days and archery, as well as day trips and holidays, both in the UK and abroad.
The organisation could not operate without donations and legacies, and its voluntary workers.
Darrell Soden, owner of Natterjack Running in Southport and race organiser, said: “A huge thank you to everyone that took part in this year’s race. We hope you had as much fun as us and that you look to join us again next year, where we will be once again supporting Galloway’s Society for the Blind.”
