How to Boost Weak Mobile Signal with 4G Repeater?

1st August 2021

If you live in a rural area or the area where the signal strength is low, you can understand how bad it feels when your day-to-day operations are interrupted by the slow internet speed.

The speed of the internet is interrupted by the bad 4G signals. Multiple people don’t have Wi-Fi connectivity in their houses, and they are dependent on cellular connectivity.

People dependent on the cellular network can choose to be smart and go for the 4G repeater for better signal strength and data speed.

So before we dive into the process, let’s understand what signal repeaters are.

A cell phone repeater is designed to amplify the signals of your mobile phone. It does so by receiving the signals from the tower, and after boosting them, it is rebroadcasted to the desired area.

There are two types of 4g signal repeaters that target different needs:

  • In-building signal boosters – These are specifically designed to give mobile signal boost to homes, offices, buildings, etc.
  • Vehicle signal repeaters – These signal boosters are made to provide signals to cars, trucks, or any other type of vehicle.

Both types of signal repeaters must need some existing signals; otherwise, there is no benefit of buying any of these.

How Signal Repeater works in a building?

The signal repeaters have three key components that work together to provide the signals.

The first one is the outside antenna. It catches the signals from the outside and sends them to the signal booster placed inside the building. The signal booster now amplifies the signals and sends the rebroadcasted signals to the inside antenna.

Now the inside antenna sends the signals inside the building, and you can enjoy the boosted signals without any interruption.

Similar antennas are placed outside the car as well, and the same process is repeated when you need the signals in the car or bus.

Types of the Antennas

  • Omni-directional antenna: This antenna receives the signals from all directions and moves at a 360% degree angle. These antennas are considered best for those who have nearby towers or multiple towers nearby.
  • Uni-directional antenna: This antenna is triangle-shaped, considered the best for those people who know the tower’s direction. All you need to do is to put that antenna in the direction of the tower.

They are specially designed for areas where signals are extremely low. However, the location of the antenna plays an essential role, so before placing the antenna, you need to you can use the signal bar checking method or use field test mode to see If the location you decided is good or not.

If you want strong signals inside your vehicle or house, it is better to put the antenna as close to the tower as possible, and the number of obstructions should be less as well too. These are the two main things you should care about when you are placing the antenna.
