Firefighters rescued a horse from a ditch near to Moss Lane in Southport at 3.36pm on Sunday, November 12.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 3.26pm and crews were alerted at 3.29pm. They were on scene at 3.36pm.
One fire engine and the Search and Rescue Team attended the incident.
Crews used strops and shackles to rescue the male horse from the ditch, with the aid of a tractor provided by a local resident.
The horse was recovered to a horse box for a thorough examination by a vet.
A man was given a foil blanket by firefighters at the scene for warmth. He declined further treatment by paramedics.
Firefighters remained at the incident for around two-and-a-half hours.
