Homeowners unite against children’s home opening

Residents of a quiet leafy Southport street are uniting themselves against a potential children’s home opening on their road.

Tarleton Road homeowners association say they are shocked to find an application has been submitted to the council to transform a house into a residential care home for children and nobody has been notified.

The applicant said “I’m currently in the process of Registering with Ofsted to be able to support young people who require supported living.

“The property is a large detached bungalow in a set-back position on a quiet cul-de-sac, on its own private plot of lands with fencing around for privacy.

“The property also has off road parking on a private drive-way for visitors and staff. Any changes to the property would be cosmetic or designed to secure the greater safety and comfort of the individuals requiring support.”

However homeowners in the area say this shouldn’t be allowed to happen and are now hoping to petition the council into stopping the development.
