Staff at Homebase in Kew have been told that their employment is being terminated ahead of the store being demolished to make way for a new supermarket.
Workers at the home improvement, DIY and garden equipment chain at the Meols Cop Retail Park were given their notices last week.
There are plans in the pipeline for the store and two units alongside it to be bulldozed to make way for a new 60,000 square ft store.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We are discussing our next steps with the developer and will update the community as we progress.”
