H&M’s Chapel store is set to close as high rents claim another victim
One of the town few remaining big brand stores will close for good on Saturday 31st December. Staff will have been offered alternative twenty hour contracts at the Liverpool city centre store.
It costs whoever takes over the shop in the future, an astonishing £215,000 a year to rent.
To Let signs have already gone up above the store and staff have been told that they will be transferred to other sites .
According to a report by OTSNews.co.uk, increasingly high rents on the town centre building had forced the clothing chain to finally throw in the towel.
Plagued by misfortune the store also shut temporarily earlier this year when contractors discovered asbestos in the wall and ceiling.
A spokesperson for H&M said they would not comment.
