Chief Superintendent Dave Charnock said: “I would like to reassure everyone in Merseyside that their safety is paramount and there is currently no specific threat to any particular locations or areas on Merseyside.
“I want to thank the public for their continued support and can assure them of our ongoing commitment to keeping the streets of Merseyside safe.
“We have reviewed our resources as part of a range of measures to reassure communities and make sure we are well protected during these dangerous times.
“Police officers will, as always, be vigilant and we will maintain a visible presence in and around key locations, with support from armed response officers, who have been providing a reassuring presence in the last two weeks in our communities.”
The public are reminded to remain vigilant and in an emergency should always call 999. Any reports of suspicious behaviour or activity can be made to the anti-terrorist hotline 0800 789 321.
