One of Southport’s most popular restaurants is hoping the local community will come out in force to enjoy a special fundraising event being held in aid of Queenscourt Hospice.
On Saturday 25th May, Hickory’s Smokehouse is inviting people from across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire to come together at its inaugural Summer Garden Party and show their support for the hospice, which provides free, high-quality care for patients with far advanced, progressive, incurable illnesses, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life at each new stage.
Offering guests the chance to celebrate their Bank Holiday weekend in style, the garden party will involve a host of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, including live music, children’s activities and an outdoor cinema. Hickory’s will be serving hot dogs and burgers on the bbq, as well their regular menu and there will be an array of stalls to peruse from local traders, along with a raffle and plenty of opportunities to take some celebratory selfies.
The garden party is set to be supported by a number of businesses from the local area, who have taken tables at the event in return for a minimum donation. All funds raised by the day will go towards helping Queenscourt to continue delivering its broad range of support services and palliative care both inside the hospice and out in the community. The hospice, which runs 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, costs over £400 an hour, and receives less than a fourth of its funding from the NHS, with the rest of the money coming from charitable donations.
Queenscourt Hospice Community Fundraiser, Rachel Kennedy said, “We’re extremely grateful to Hickory’s Smokehouse for organising this event in aid of our charity. It’s a fantastic example of the amazing and vital support we receive every year from the local business community, and we hope the garden party will prove to be a wonderful day for everyone involved.”
Ellie Blundell, Hickory’s Smokehouse General Manager added, “Queenscourt Hospice is part of the fabric of the Southport community. It delivers an essential role to the people who live here, and we want to do all we can to help ensure it can continue to deliver its services for many years to come. We’d urge anyone who is looking to make a difference and share a fun day out with their friends and loved ones this Bank Holiday to come along to the garden party help their local hospice.
The Hickory’s Smokehouse Garden Party in aid of Queenscourt Hospice takes place from 12pm on Saturday 25th May at Hickory’s Smokehouse, 70 Folkestone Road, Southport, PR8 5PH.
