A Southport man has smashed his personal London Marathon, taking on and defeating a leg destroying 26 mile run around the town.
Ben Sharples was all set to take on the London Marathon on Sunday before it was all but cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
But not to be deterred, Ben had his mind set of completing the remote version of the internally renowned race in his home town.
And do so he did, recording an impressive time of under 6 hours after racing around Southport, through Scarisbrick and the moss before looping back into the town and finishing with a flourish.
It’s not just the miles that counted for Ben however, as he also managed to raise over £800 for the Southport Soup Kitchen.
Donations are still open to support Ben and help the Soup Kitchen. To contribute visit https://justgiving.com/fundraising/bensharples26
