Herald Juniors FC snubbed by Craven Minor League
A Southport football coach has been left baffled after a junior football league snubbed the chance to let children play the beautiful game.
Jay Hawkes of Herald Juniors FC had come to the rescue of a number of local schoolchildren who were desperate to get into junior league football. However he was stunned to be told by Craven Minor League bosses that his two new teams would be refused entry.
Jay said: “We’re trying to get teams into the league that the players haven’t got a club because teams have folded and are now looking for new teams which we can offer.
“We have a team that wants to move to us because we do everything we can to give these kids the best of what can be offered.
“They have a great social life from this team and great coaching from some very patient, committed coaches.
“Players want to be part of our club because of what we do for the kids. “Craven are stopping kids from playing football. Its a joke.”
A spokesperson for the Craven Minor League said: “the committee, after further consideration, have decided that the application be declined on this occasion.”

Herald Juniors only started in November and just like the adults they’re starting to dominate young amateur regional football.
Jay Hawkes told OTS News “The success we have achieved has not come as a shock with the quality they possess.
“We just didn’t expect it so soon. The Blues have had a super season winning everything they could possibly win.”
“The reds also winning the shield after only a few months a settled team. 2 cups and a league between the 2 teams.”
“The Blues going on to win the league by a massive margin, only conceding 4 goals all season.”
