Hello, my name is Simon
Trust’s new Director of Nursing begins first day signing up to #hellomynameis campaign.
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust welcomes new Director of Nursing, Simon Featherstone, as he launches campaign to encourage staff to introduce themselves to patients.
Simon joins the Trust from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust where he was Deputy Director of Nursing. Simon trained at Charing Cross School of Nursing, London, where he qualified in 1991. He spent his first year after qualifying at Charing Cross before moving to Guy’s Hospital, London to take up a post in intensive care.
Simon spent the next 16 years Guy’s (which then became Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital) culminating in him becoming the Lead Nurse for Critical Care then the Head of Nursing for Surgery. In 2008, he took up the post of Head of Nursing Development and Quality at Lewisham Hospital before joining Salford Royal in 2009.
Simon said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team here and I’m especially pleased to be launching the #hellomynameis campaign. This campaign encourages health professionals to introduce themselves to patients before examining them discussing their treatment with them.
“I hope my new colleagues will follow my example and say hello to patients before treating them, it only takes a moment and adds an extra caring touch.”
