A support fund has been launched for the mum of a man found dead under Southport Pier earlier this week.
The body of Samuel Latham was discovered by a member of the public in the early hours of Monday morning.
Friends of Sam, who was in his early thirties, say he had battled with mental health issues but was always smiling.
Sam’s friend Jennifer Conroy has since launched a crowdfunding appeal to support Sam’s mother and family.
Jennifer said “Samuel battled for years with his mental health diagnosis for years, but always managed to have a cheeky grin on his face.
“I had the absolute pleasure of working a couple of years with Sam in Birch Abbey, and he always managed to make everybody laugh in one way or other!
“I remember Sam as being strong and harmless with a heart of gold and a cheeky sense of humour. Sam had a big booming laugh and although he had some demons he was a big friendly giant.
“Sam had lots of acquaintances, work colleagues (past and present) and friends, but this didn’t stop him from struggling; he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in his late teens.
“This never stopped Sam being approachable and good-humoured. He was often seen dressed up doing karaoke in the local bar, or recording YouTube Videos of him singing. Samuel had a lot of talent, ability and a flair for life.”
“This news has shocked and saddened Sam’s poor family – nobody should have to plan their son’s funeral.”
