6th March 2020

Health and safety bosses say they are investigating serious concerns of asbestos being improperly removed from a building site in Southport.

Workers on the former Philip’s Factory site on Balmoral Road have been using industrial diggers to smash up waste from the factory building which local residents fear is teaming with asbestos.

The Health and Safety Executive have been alerted and plan to visit the demolition site in the coming days.

There are fears airborne particles of asbestos could carry over to a nearby primary school.
