Gypsies/Travellers have set camp on Birkdale Common,  Southport, Friday 29 July 2016

A group of Travellers who have set up camp on the northern end of Birkdale Common off Waterlooo Road (behind Alan Hansen’s house) have been given formal notice to move on say local Ward councillor Tony Dawson.

“Sefton Council are not always known for moving like the wind but in this case it appears that they are doing all they can,” says Cllr Dawson.

Sefton Council previously placed wooden stumps to the entrance of Birkdale common, Waterloo Road, Southport.

This is to deter travellers and vehicle trespassers on to the land.  The posts were concreted in.
