GUILTY | Following Southport Little Theatre Break-In
A MAN told a court he broke into Southport Little Theatre because he was so drunk he mistook it for his home address.
Karl Hutson, 45, of Scarisbrick Street, pleaded guilty to criminal damage of glass door panels when he appeared at Sefton Magistrates Court on May 9.
Andrew Page, prosecuting, said that when staff arrived at the theatre on the morning of Monday February 19 they discovered that the premises had been broken into over the previous weekend.
“The theatre is owned and run by Southport Dramatic club as a charitable trust for the local community,”
Mr Page said, “Nothing was stolen but broken glass and blood were scattered around.”
Hutson, who attended court on crutches, was identified following tests on blood samples taken from the scene and he was subsequently interviewed by police.
Magistrates fined him £120, ordered that he pay £115 in costs and victim surcharge, and pay £225 in compensation to Little Theatre Southport.
