The guide to Spooktacular Southport Halloween Festival
The Southport BID guide to all you can expect at next weeks Spooktacular Southport Halloween Festival.
The BId have put together four days of great events to provide spooky fun for families. The festival will be centred this year around a giant maze in Town Hall Gardens. The events are designed to bring people into the town for the afternoon and to stay all day with shopping and eating. Here are some of this year’s main events:
Dare you enter our haunted maze? Try not to get lost in our spooky maze as mischievous ghosts and ghouls try to thwart and confuse you! Perfect for some creepy family fun and a some scarily good giggles. Bring your tiny monsters on Thursday’s launch day for some mayhem chasing Starkidz and all their favourite baddies around the maze!
Town Hall Gardens, Thurs 25th – Sun 28th
Small entry fee, Suitable for ages 8 and up!
Ever wanted to see a dragon up close? Watch in awe as two giant Dragons swoop and soar through the streets, breathing smoke as they go. Learn from their mysterious guardians, as they sing songs of a time when Dragons ruled the skies
Chapel Street, Sat 27th – Shows 11am & 3pm
Walkabout 1.30pm
The ghost-crew of the Scurvy Shark are doomed to sail the seven seas, cast adrift on the oceans of time – searching for Barbarossa’s elusive elixir of life to restore them once more to the living. Scares and scrapes litter the way, along with a good dose of slapstick & giggles during two action packed shows. Get all dressed up in your best sea faring gear and join the parade at 2pm.
Chapel Street, Thurs 25th – Shows 11am & 12.30pm
Join in our Pirate Pandemonium Parade at 2pm
Our Trick or Treat trails are back! Join Starkidz and their mischief making, spooky friends on a trick or treat trail all ending in dancing, silliness and Halloween mayhem! Bring your little monsters for fancy dress fun and stay all afternoon.
Chapel Street, Fri 26th – 11am – 1pm – 3pm
Roll up! Roll up! The greatest Halloween show is in town and there will be some freakishly good performances all afternoon. See hoop acrobats, spectacular juggling and all manner of circus spectacle in an afternoon of pop up performances and surprises with a grand finale at 2.50pm. It is free to attend so just come along to see the spectacle.
Chapel Street, Sun 28th 12-3pm
Look out lumbering, mythical trees as they come to life and wander amongst us with their tree-mendous tree related humour.
Chapel Street, Sat 27th – 12pm & 2.15pm
They put the ‘scare’ into scarecrow – catch Wesley Street’s annual Scarecrow Festival and watch their story unfold. To help create the scarecrows then why not head down there from 10am this Saturday and get stuck in!
Wesley Street, 20th – 31st
Every Halloween, Crafty the Crow invites all his friends to see the treasured Golden Pumpkin on show at his Halloween Spooktacular – the biggest Halloween party in town! But this year someone is up to no good, because the Golden Pumpkin has been stolen… but who by? Surely not Pongo the Pig? Or Sheena the Sheep? Or maybe Barry the Butler did it! Come in your scariest Halloween costume and help Sally the Scarecrow solve the ghostly goings-on at The Atkinson then meet Crafty afterwards and receive a special present!
The Atkinson, Thurs 25th 1pm
Southport’s Happy Halloween capital is back as the theme park is transformed into a pumpkin paradise for the half term. There will be ghosts, ghouls and characters to surprise you and make sure you look out for superb offers on the tokens and rides.
Pleasureland, Sat & Sun 20th & 21st then 25th – 28th
Can you spot the pumpkins popping up in shop windows throughout town? Grab a map from Wayfarer’s or The Atkinson and hunt down each pumpkin. If you find and draw each design you will be rewarded with a little treat at the end of the route! Can you complete all the Halloween puzzles and find our two special monsters on your journey?
