Guests greeted with dog muck in Southport hotel room

30th June 2019

A north east couple who didn’t know of a town centre hotel’s terrible reputation were left shocked when they found dog muck in their bedroom.

Alan and Jennifer Robson claim their holiday was ruined by the ‘awful experience’ at the Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street.

The mess, which was discovered in a waste bin, ‘smelt appalling and was overpowering’ said the couple.

The pensioners asked hotel staff for an alternative bedroom but were only offered a room that was much smaller.

Jennifer, who was a safeguarding officer for children and young people, claimed she was told their room had been empty for a week without being cleaned properly and were promised it would be cleaned immediately. But, said Jennifer, the bin was simply removed and the room sprayed with air freshener.

No apology or discount was offered for the couple’s distress, they claim.
