Greedy housing bosses eye up Hoghton Arms for flats plan

Yet another iconic Southport pub could be transformed into flats despite a last ditch attempt to reopen it.

A housing firm has applied to Sefton Council to turn the first floor of ex Hoghton Arms Pub on London Street into a block of flats while the ground floor could be transformed into offices.

Interested parties are fighting the planning application as they hope to reopen the pub once more despite its former bad reputation but a firm now want to take over the majority of the building to create three bespoke flats.

It’s thought if the flats are approved there will be even less hope for managing to reopen the Hoghton Arms as any people who move in will then have grounds for noise related complaints.
