West Lancashire MG Owner club had a successful month this September.
Starting off on the 2nd September at the Hoghton Tower Classic Show, near Preston there were 14 of the club’s MGs on display in front of the 500 Year old building with good weather making it a pleasant day out – which made a change from the previous week at Ormskirk Motorfest where everyone got a thorough soaking.
Things got even better when we were awarded the trophy for the Best Club Display, the second stand award this year.
Two weeks later the club had a social gathering which they called “The TC party” at a club member’s farm buildings. There were 35 club members and friends enjoying the BBQ, treasure hunt and cake auction. This auction was of cakes made by members and donated to be sold off to the highest bidder. At the end of the day £225 was raised for charity which was decided on the day to go to the “Southport Lifeboats” and will be presented later in the month.
A few days later it was the club’s monthly meeting, which was arranged as a “Garage Clearance Auction”, in which club members can clear out their garages of surplus car spares and other bits and pieces, all donated in aid of the club’s charity fund. There were dozens of parts displayed on the front table at the start which the casual observer might possibly classify a “junk”, but 26 club members joined in the bidding for these items. Two hours later almost all the “junk” had been sold off and the total raised was totted up – £245 was the sum raised to be added to the charity fund – this will be presented to charities to be decided by members at their next AGM in a few months time.
