Great days out for lovers of photography

12th January 2023

Taking photographs isn’t always as easy as simply picking up a camera and clicking a button. You may need to consider lighting, focus and, of course, your target. When planning a day out, you may want to think about how you can combine attractions or landmarks with your favourite hobby. This can allow you to spend some quality time with your loved ones and even get some great images to commemorate the occasion.

The London Eye

One of the benefits of visiting London is the wide array of attractions available. This can give you ample opportunity to get some great shots, both of your companions and the city around you. However, to create some really fantastic landscapes, you may want to get yourself above the crowds. One way of doing this can be to get tickets for a capsule on the London Eye. This may enable you to take some beautiful pictures of a large expanse of the city, or even with a bird’s eye view. In addition to this, you may find some great London Eye and Madame Tussauds deals which could allow you to see more of the attractions for less, and even help to bulk out your day a little.

Giant’s Causeway

For those living in Northern Island, or willing to take a ferry, the Giant’s Causeway may be a must, especially for some beautiful sunrise or sunset images. This is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in the entirety of Northern Island, which makes it even more special. Although the myth states that the causeway was created due to a giant crossing the sea to meet a challenger, the reality is more down to historical volcanic activity and the rising sea wearing away to reveal the rock. While you can get some great images here, you may also be pleased to know that the Giant’s Causeway is dog-friendly, meaning your four-legged assistant can come with you. It could be a good idea to wrap up warm, as the sea air can be bitterly cold.

The New Forest

If you’d like to spend time in nature, well away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, while getting some pictures, you may want to consider the New Forest in Hampshire. Alongside numerous areas of natural beauty, you may also be able to see, and photograph, the wild ponies that live here. Having been in the area for around 2,000 years, there are currently estimated to be around 5,000 wild and semi-wild ponies living in the New Forest. One important point to note is that feeding them is prohibited, and you could face a fine or criminal record for doing so. Therefore, it is important to take your images respectfully.

Photography can be an incredibly enjoyable hobby, especially for someone with a great deal of patience. Should you wish to go on a fun day out, you may want to consider some destinations which will allow you to keep doing what you love while gaining new experiences.
